12:43:50 <bekks> hi
12:45:19 <bekks> After creating several accounts with the wizard (I'm a new user for gnucash), how would i set initial or start values for the money in each account? the only way i found is to delete one by one and recreate each account
12:46:27 <jsled> Just create an transaction against {Equity:Opening Balances}
12:46:34 <jsled> That's all the druid does.
12:48:28 <bekks> ah ok, I'll try that, thank you

16:54:47 <foo> Is "Action" field for invoices simply for me? eg. I can't really do anything else with it?
16:58:15 <warlord> what else would you like to do with it?
17:00:35 <foo> I wasn't sure if I could do something like pull up a report to see which actions have earned me the most, or something. Nothing too big, just wondering :)
17:00:55 <warlord> At this point, no.
17:01:07 <warlord> One could possibly write one..
17:01:27 <foo> gotcha, ok
17:02:00 <warlord> HOWEVER, the action field in the invoice isn't necessarily copied into the CoA, so searching for values might be a LOT more work.
17:02:27 <foo> ah,o k

18:34:31 <ephemerian> I have a problem with currency symbols in invoices - my account currency is set to GBP, I create an invoice to the value of GBP 40, post it, but when I print the invoice it shows USD 40 as the amount owing
18:34:45 <ephemerian> is there a separate setting for the currency of the invoice somewhere?
18:35:36 *** _McLANE_ has quit IRC
18:36:53 <andrewsw> ephemerian: so far as I know, the business features, of which invoicing is one, do not handle multi-currencies... make sure all the currencies that touch that invoice are the same.
18:37:10 <andrewsw> (like the a/r or a/p acct as appropriate)
18:37:20 <ephemerian> yep, it's all GBP
18:37:25 <ephemerian> no multi-currency
18:37:26 *** SmileyChris has joined #gnucash
18:37:38 <ephemerian> but gnucash has other ideas when I print the invoice!
18:37:42 <warlord> ephemerian: Your locale is probably en_US instead of en_GB
18:37:50 <andrewsw> hm... how about default curency or locale
18:37:57 <andrewsw> d'oh
18:38:17 <ephemerian> warlord: I did check that my locale is correct, and it was wrong but I've fixed that now and I still see the problem
18:38:27 <warlord> Invoice Currency is derived from Customer Currency.
18:38:41 <warlord> You'll need to re-set that
18:38:45 <ephemerian> ah, how do I check that the customer currecy is correct?
18:38:55 <warlord> Edit the customer and look at it?
18:39:04 <SmileyChris> Hi, just getting started with gnucash and i've imported my two bank account OCX files - is there any way of finding matching transfers between accounts?
18:39:42 <warlord> As for the Invoice... It caches the currency when you select the customer... So you'll have to reset that by re-selecting the customer after you make sure the customer currency is correct.
18:39:51 <warlord> also note that you need to restart gnucash for the new locale to take effect.
18:40:04 <warlord> SmileyChris: only by hand.
18:40:08 <SmileyChris> :(
18:41:45 <SmileyChris> warlord: so from one account, set up the transfers then from the other delete the duplicates?
18:43:01 *** benoitg has joined #gnucash
18:43:14 <warlord> SmileyChris: or in the importer mark them as duplicates.
18:44:31 <ephemerian> warlord: customer currency was USD, now is GBP but the invoice still prints as USD
18:44:43 <ephemerian> I even tried deleting the invoice lines and recreating them
18:45:12 <ephemerian> I'm going to try creating a new file now that I've fixed the default locale on my system
18:45:18 * ephemerian clutching at straws a bit
18:47:32 <warlord> ephemerian: Did you read what I posted about about "As for the Invoice"?
18:49:33 <ephemerian> sorry warlord, I missed that bit of your comment
18:49:39 <ephemerian> sounds right, let me try
18:52:10 <ephemerian> warlord: yes, that fixed it ... many thanks!
18:52:40 <warlord> you;'re welcome
18:56:29 <ephemerian> more general question: suppose I deliver a service on an hourly basis (e.g. tuition), and then bill my clients on a monthly basis
18:56:46 <ephemerian> what's a good way to track what's owed per customer?
18:57:36 <ephemerian> the lines on the invoice don't show up in a/r until it's posted, right?
18:59:32 <warlord> right
18:59:51 <warlord> me, I use GnoTime and then create my invoices monthly.
19:00:04 <ephemerian> ah, ok
