08:29:07 <warlord> @tell andi5 Hey, I thought you fixed the "blank transactions in GL" bug?
08:29:07 <gncbot> warlord: The operation succeeded.
09:10:33 <Jaran|zzZzZzz> you might want to update the release information to the newest version on wikipedia -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GnuCash
09:15:22 <warlord> Jaran|zzZzZzz: what needs to be updated there. I don't see anything incorrect.

13:45:24 <steve001hsd> Ok for the old question how can I transfer quickbooks 2004 data to gnucash? Or cant it be done?
13:48:04 <warlord> At this point there is no "quickbooks" import. The QB data format is proprietary.
13:49:54 <steve001hsd> What about just customer list and price list?
13:49:55 <steve001hsd> what about just a customer list and price list i can do the rest by hand
13:50:02 <warlord> Nope.
13:50:10 <warlord> There's no importing the customer list.
13:50:20 <warlord> "price list" -- do you mean historical stock prices?
13:50:20 <steve001hsd> sorry for repeat i lagged lol
13:50:26 <warlord> that's okay?
13:50:31 <warlord> er, s/?/.
13:51:03 <steve001hsd> current price cost for inventory
13:52:41 <steve001hsd> im trying to do away with windoze but qbooks is my last holdout, like so many from what a read
13:52:52 <warlord> Gnucash doesn't do inventory
13:53:54 <steve001hsd> ahh ok is the a different linux prog you might recomend for a qb replacement for small business?
13:54:18 <warlord> Nothing that I know of that has full QB equivalence. You can try SQL-Ledger.
13:54:31 <warlord> Or you can find a developer on your team to help add Inventory support.
13:55:02 <steve001hsd> very true i love GPL

19:38:15 <blahdeblah> Hi. When i print reports in GnuCash, the text appears huge, and this forces columns to wrap. On screen, the reports look excellent, on paper (or PDF) they look goofy.
19:38:15 <blahdeblah> http://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-user/2006-August/017468.html seems to indicate that this is hard-coded in GnuCash, pointing to bug http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=350408, which seems to indicate that lots of users are unhappy, but very little else. http://members.iinet.com.au/~paulone/gnucash/ has a patch.
19:38:15 <blahdeblah> Is there any workaround other than building from source and applying that patch?
19:38:15 <gncbot> blahdeblah: Sent 3 days, 23 hours, and 10 minutes ago: <warlord> The Income Statement
19:42:16 <jsled> export report to HTML, use firefox to print (to pdf or otherwise)
19:46:54 <jsled> blahdeblah: just to confirm, what version of gtkhtml are you suing?
19:46:56 <jsled> er, using.
19:48:02 *** _lasindi has quit IRC
19:50:44 <blahdeblah> jsled: It's either libgtkhtml2-0 2.11.0-3 or libgtkhtml3.8-15 3.12.1-2. I'm using the stock Debian etch version, and i'd have to investigate a bit further which one GnuCash depends upon.
19:51:15 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
19:52:32 <warlord> blahdeblah: I'll point out that that web page (last I looked) does NOT contain a patch. It contains a web form that, if you fill in a bunch of crap, will maybe give you a patch. If that user wants to have his patch taken seriously he should attach it to the bug report.
19:52:54 <jsled> It'll be one of the libgtkhtml3's. And it looks like both 3.8 and 3.12 exhibit the problem.
19:53:51 <jsled> Though http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366934 does have a patch we should probably apply.
19:54:02 <jsled> I'm just so hesitant to touch the reports at all. :/
19:55:32 <warlord> Hmm, I wonder if I'm building against 3.12.3 or 3.14.3?
19:55:36 <blahdeblah> So i'm best to export to HTML and mangle from there?
19:57:23 <warlord> blahdeblah: probably..
19:57:42 <warlord> blahdeblah: or you can try the patch in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366934 to see if it works, but I dont think that's a real solution..
19:58:10 <warlord> or you can find the patch from http://members.iinet.com.au/~paulone/gnucash/ and attach it to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=350408 so maybe someone will actually look at it.
20:03:41 <blahdeblah> warlord: I'm very reluctant to be building GnuCash myself. It looks like HTML is the best option for now.
20:04:31 *** dbr has joined #gnucash
20:06:18 <warlord> blahdeblah: applying the patch from http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=366934 does not require rebuilding gnucash; they are scheme patches so you can apply them directly to the installed version.
20:06:30 <warlord> I have no idea what the other patch looks like, as it's not publically available.
20:08:47 <blahdeblah> Try going here directly: http://members.iinet.net.au/~paulone/gnucash/download.html
20:14:20 <blahdeblah> Both patches on that page seem to require patches to the C source.
20:15:43 <warlord> Yes, THOSE patches require rebuilding... But one of these is against gtkthml, which we dont control anyways. It's unclear if the second patch depends on the first.
20:16:23 *** motin has quit IRC
20:17:07 <blahdeblah> Do you want me to put direct links to the patches in the first bug?
20:17:15 <blahdeblah> It sounds like a lot of people would like to see this fixed.
20:17:44 <warlord> Or better yes, "attach" the patches to the first bug.
20:18:03 <warlord> (note that there's only one patch to attach; we can't do anything with the gtkhtml change)
