14:32:36 <andi5> Q: where is a split supposed to mark its parent txn dirty if itself became dirty? or is this supposed to happen by wrapping those those changes by xaccTrans{Begin,Commit}Edit? .... well, actually, it does not work, you can change a splits memo or the amount of a txn in basic ledger mode without marking the book dirty
14:34:59 <warlord> andi5: chris was the last to work on that logic.
14:35:23 <andi5> warlord: thanks ;-)

15:27:50 <cstim> The auto-save feature was surprisingly easy
15:27:50 <gncbot> cstim: Sent 1 day, 21 hours, and 57 minutes ago: <andi5> we could evaluate the use of Setup: PrivilegesRequired ..... IMHO we could set it to none (Setup will only run with administrative privileges if it was started by a member of the Administrators group @ Vista, Setup will not check the user's group membership @ NT/2000/XP/2003)
15:28:11 <cstim> Yet it needs quite some testing. Anyone to apply the patch from http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451889 ?

15:31:38 <cstim> @tell andi5 Sure, just add the PrivilegesRequired. We will hear if that causes any problems :-)
15:31:38 <gncbot> cstim: The operation succeeded.

16:28:12 <cstim> warlord: have you seen the auto-save RFE?
16:28:32 <warlord> cstim: yeah, i looked at it and perused your patch.
16:28:52 <warlord> (not close enough to get a GOOD feel for it, but it looked pretty straightforward)

16:30:19 * jsled applies patch
16:30:35 <cstim> the only missing part is that the progress bar doesn't show the progress plus the UI isn't made insensitive.
16:31:02 <cstim> I probably missed some notification somewhere, but I just don't know where.
16:31:14 <cstim> gnc_file_save() obviously doesn't do that notification.
16:31:39 <warlord> I'd call whatever API the 'save' button calls.
16:32:25 <cstim> ah. ok.
16:32:32 <cstim> gnc_window_set_progressbar_window(...)
16:34:41 <cstim> Is there a way to obtain the current GNC_WINDOW?
16:35:45 *** ural0 has joined #gnucash
16:36:13 <warlord> I'm sure there is.. Just dont know what it is.
16:37:05 *** ural0 has quit IRC
16:37:07 <jsled> well, there might be more than one...
16:37:33 <jsled> gnc_ui_get_toplevel() gets the "first" one.
16:38:03 <jsled> src/gnome-utils/gnc-main-window.[ch]
16:44:27 <cstim> hm, I can't get the set_progressbar_window to work for now. This progress bar/UI sensitive issue is IMHO the last outstanding issue; after that it could be committed, IMHO :-)

17:58:23 <lilcompanion> I'm trying to setup a budget and I don't understand the behavior of the budget entry
17:58:54 <lilcompanion> Say I have the accounts Auto -> Gas, if I put $30 on gas, shouldn't it automatically add $30 to Auto?

18:00:48 <roxy_> lilcompanion: I would find it normal.
18:01:38 <warlord> lilcompanion: maybe chris can answer.
18:02:43 <lilcompanion> It's problematic, because I have to manually add up the sub-categories to be able to get a good overview in the budget report

20:37:00 <chris> lilcompanion: don't enter the sums for parent account.
20:38:07 <chris> the report will show the sums for you, but for budget entry, each amount is for the account, exclusie of children.
20:43:54 <chris> @tell andi5 What's up with splits? I don't think you can change a split's memo without dirtying it.
20:43:54 <gncbot> chris: The operation succeeded.
21:15:57 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
21:21:45 <lilcompanion> Chris: I tried what you said and set my budget up with Auto->Gas = $30, Auto = [blank]. When I load the report the amount for gas doesn't show up unless I include it's account. I'd rather not include all of the accounts (close to 100) on my budget report, as I just want a high level view. The option "account display depth" sounds like it should address that issue, but all it seems to do is change whether subaccounts get indented or
21:23:24 <lilcompanion> FYI, I'm using v2.0.5 as that's the lastest stable in the Gentoo package tree.. so that may have something to do with it
21:23:47 <jsled> (lilcompanion: you got truncated at "get indented or", above)
21:24:20 <lilcompanion> ... or not. : )
