00:10:58 <dbr> guess I have to say something for the bot to talk to me...
00:10:59 <gncbot> dbr: Sent 1 day, 14 hours, and 26 minutes ago: <warlord> technically they are public , but in reality they're not.
00:12:20 <dbr> @tell warlord thanks. Now to talk the PTB at fink into letting me collapse the package into one rather than maintaining a separate -shlibs package
00:12:20 <gncbot> dbr: The operation succeeded.

02:15:05 <mishehu> what's the proper way to register slib in guile? I have forgotten, and this isn't working - http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Slackware
02:25:17 <mishehu> nm, I was able to figure it out nonetheless. but am having anotehr issue now...
02:27:21 <mishehu> <unnamed port>: In expression (user-vicinity):
02:27:21 <mishehu> <unnamed port>: Unbound variable: user-vicinity
02:34:07 <mishehu> grr nm, again, I managed to figure it out somehow.
02:34:26 <mishehu> it didn't like the slib version, and there was a perms issue.

10:42:54 <fell> apropos, what do you think of logging in UTC? Your time for me is sometimes confusing
10:47:06 <warlord> I think whatever time it gets logged in will be confusing for someone.

20:42:56 <Pio> i just imported a QIF from my bank of my checking account transactions, and I'd like to automatically set the Transfer Account based on the description matching a text pattern, is that possible? I was thinking I could make a script to actually do this against the raw XML file but that's scary..

20:47:29 *** IanL has joined #gnucash
21:04:29 <Pio> would it be feasible to do a csv export from my bank instead, then make a tool to set the transfer account in the CSV, then import that csv?

21:17:29 *** BlackBsd has joined #GnuCash
21:26:55 <jsled> Pio: there's not yet a CSV import, so no. (Though a CSV/structured file importer is one of our Summer of Code projects that's in-progres)
21:27:23 <jsled> The QIF importer will understand the mappings that you've made in the past, and use them in the future.
21:27:56 <jsled> Alternatively, QIF is about the same level of complexity as CSV ... so normalizing the QIF memos so that the existing import logic can do a better job of matching is about the same...
21:38:14 <Pio> cool.. so a script to manipulate the QIF then
21:40:53 <jsled> Pio: perhaps. But, again, the existing QIF importer will remember the memo -> account mappings, though it it string-literal.
21:41:16 <jsled> Pio: are you finding it's not working, or speculating... ?
21:42:15 <Pio> im just speculating
21:42:43 <jsled> Give it an import or two.
21:42:55 <jsled> [...] and see if it works out or not.
21:43:01 <Pio> another question.. is there any way to easily delete a bunch of transactions, as opposed to one by one?
21:43:07 <jsled> Wiggly dog on my lap, gotta go!
21:43:14 <jsled> No, there's not.
21:43:17 <Pio> when i imported this QIF the first time I just dumped it all to 'undefined'
21:43:36 <jsled> (unless they're all in one account, in which can you can delete the account+transactions.)
21:43:49 <Pio> hmm
21:43:53 <jsled> Ah ... yeah, Undefined = Orphan = Bad.
21:44:09 <Pio> yeah. now i have to delete like 300 transactions hehe
21:44:15 <jsled> But you should be able to delete the Undefined account, yeah.
21:44:30 <Pio> oh, thats interesting..
21:44:39 <jsled> 2.0.x, right?
21:44:48 <Pio> yes
21:44:50 <jsled> Shouldn't matter... I think that was true in 1.8 as well.
21:44:52 <Pio> yes looks like that will be perfect
21:45:31 <Pio> hrm now all the transactions in the checking account are transfer: imbalance-usd
21:45:34 <Pio> owell.
21:45:41 <Pio> i could delete them from the XML i suppose
21:45:54 <jsled> Hmm. I thought it deleted them entirely, not just the splits. That's unfortunate.
21:46:25 <jsled> You may want to find the {basefilename}.xac.{timestamp} file (alongside your datafile) from before the import, and just use that...
21:46:48 <jsled> (... and re-import, of course. And depending on how much post-import work you've done, too.)
21:47:13 <jsled> Anyways, really gotta run, now. Good luck. Plenty of info at http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/
21:49:32 <Pio> thanks, cool
21:49:36 <Pio> i gotta go too anyway
