14:50:01 <aphexer> In Belgium it's required by law to have separate numbering for bills and invoices. So number 1 can't be an invoice when number 2 is a bill... Would it be hard to make a patch? If not can someone give me a few pointers where to start?

19:01:26 <hampton> aphexer: If you're building from source, look in the accounts directory.
19:04:55 <hampton> otherwise look in <prefix>/share/gnucash/accounts
19:11:23 <aphexer> hampton: yeah i already noticed those files, but how do i create those?
19:11:31 <aphexer> i'm not building from source, but could do if required
19:11:52 <aphexer> i already tried file export accounts in gnucash, but it appears to be something else

19:19:39 <hampton> gncbot: tell aphexer I think you're 90% there. Compare your exported file with an existing xea file. I think you'll find them very similar. All you should need to do is strip out the commodity entries from your file, and then replace the gnc-v2 node with a gnc-account-example node.
19:19:39 <gncbot> hampton: The operation succeeded.
19:20:54 <andi5> hampton: does the type parameter (new or guid) to <act:id> matter?
19:21:41 <hampton> yeah, probably does

19:49:49 <aphexer> cool bot
19:51:13 <hampton> andi5 also pointed out you should change the type parameter to <act:id> from "guid" to "new".
19:52:25 <aphexer> ok, i'm going to try it right now
19:53:06 <aphexer> oh btw, who mostly uses gnucash? where do those people come from? gb? usa? germany?
19:53:41 <aphexer> since some legal stuff is different than what i'd like for belgium, was wondering:)
19:53:55 *** jakin has joined #gnucash
19:56:57 <aphexer> and oh when i just copy over an exported accounts file to /usr/share/gnucash/accounts, and then try to create a new gnucash file, the template list is empty so i can't continue... May be better to display an error instead
20:02:29 <aphexer> should i change <act:parent type="guid"> too? (change to "new"?) or only the act:id entries?
20:06:27 <aphexer> i did the changes but it doesn't seem to work. When i try to make a new file the list of categories is just empty. When i remove my created file from /usr/share/gnucash/accounts/C it works again.
20:09:13 <hampton> gnucash is used by people all 'round the world. I couldn't categorize which country has the most users. I would guess the usa, but only because of its size
20:09:53 <hampton> sounds odd. Did you close the .gnc-account-example node too soon? It spans the entire file.

20:19:09 <aphexer> hampton, posted it here: http://rafb.net/p/rboXxZ21.html
20:19:26 <aphexer> it's the same as the basic checkbook one, i'm just testing it out before i go try with the real data :)
20:20:22 <andi5> is it complete?
20:25:12 <aphexer> andi5, "complete"?
20:25:44 <andi5> the first line is "</gnc:account>"...
20:26:41 <aphexer> aie, copy paste error:)
20:27:27 <aphexer> andi5, http://rafb.net/p/zvNmyv32.html
20:27:30 <aphexer> that should be more like it :)
20:32:56 <andi5> hm... you made my gnucash crash, that is unfair
20:33:33 <aphexer> lol
20:33:38 <aphexer> mine doesn't even crash:)

20:39:07 <andi5> aphexer: well, i cannot test right now... but i see two differences to another acctchrt file: (1) gnc-account-example does not take parameters, but has children (gnc-act:title, -short-description and -long-description) ... (2) there is no gnc:count-data
20:39:27 <aphexer> ok
20:40:00 <aphexer> andi5, how were those acctchrt files generated? Isn't there another way than by hand changing the correct entries?
20:40:59 <andi5> most of them have been created already before i started using gnucash ... the others just ... appeared from nowhere on the mailing list
20:41:16 <aphexer> lol :) ok
20:41:56 <andi5> well, i guess someone would have done the work for you if you sent the exported file to the mailing list
20:42:13 <andi5> maybe...
20:44:07 *** BlackBsd has quit IRC
20:44:40 <hampton> I think most of them were made by hand. I don't know though. Most of them have been around longer than I have.
20:45:27 <aphexer> ok, well if it's not too much work i'll just go try it :)

21:08:41 <davr> so i got ofxDirectConnect working, but it downloads too much info
21:09:03 <davr> instead of just saying like SAFEWAY, it says ID:1293190237109 1203712837198237198237 SAFEWAY
21:10:10 <davr> is there any setting somewhere that lets me limit that data? otherwise i have to make the description column really wide in order to see the relevant info

21:32:53 <davr> i suppose i could hack the code to ignore everything before ;
21:34:24 <hampton> sounds like that will work. I've not head of this problem before, but then I don't use ofx so I may not have been paying attention
21:42:48 <andi5> hampton: in case you are interested: http://pastebin.ca/raw/410020 is the crash i saw ... i do not see why this should be win32 specific though :)
21:44:32 <hampton> its not. its from the ROOT account changes. I've fixed it in my tree, but am still looking for why the list of example accounts comes up blank.
21:45:42 <andi5> oh, i see :) ..... well, you see blank windows, i see black filled rectangles... nothing works as it should ;-)

22:05:18 <aphexer> andi5, hampton: thanks for the help, removing the parameters at the top of the file and adding description etc, and removing gnc:count-data made it work as a template.
22:05:39 <hampton> np
22:05:48 <aphexer> gotta sleep now :) i'll try to make a template for belgian users soon
22:05:52 <hampton> micah: no, that functionality doesn't exist

23:25:29 <davr> hmm...what to do if one of my ofxdirectconnect servers has an invalid ssl cert?
23:25:56 <davr> i guess it would be silly to try and find a way to accept it anyway, then someone might steal my bank login info
23:30:27 <davr> the provider URL is https://216.34.60.221/DatafeedAPI -- and from what i can tell, the SSL cert really is bad
23:46:04 <davr> hmm...seems its actually a bug in openssl: http://blogs.msdn.com/larryosterman/archive/2004/06/04/148612.aspx
23:49:54 <davr> this site seems to say it's a server misconfiguration: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=245609
23:51:18 <davr> so complicated...all i want is to automatically download my transactions.
